Fire Safety

All apartments should have at least two exits.  Your primary or first exit is your apartment door that leads to the street.  Your secondary exit should be one of the following: an enclosed stairway accessible from the public hallway, a ground floor window, or a fire escape. An elevator is NEVER an acceptable means of escape during a fire.

According to the National Fire Protection Association:

Protect yourself!  Use the Fire Safety Check-List to assess how at-risk you are for a fire in your home.
